Description

Join our team in London as a Credit Risk Analyst and play an integral role in supporting trading and financing opportunities originated by Macquarie's Commodities & Global Markets division in EMEA.

Your role will be focused on assessing innovative hedging/financing solutions across a variety of businesses, including commodity product trading (primarily focused on Agriculture and Metals products via OTC and Futures) and specialised lending.

You will be responsible for all aspects of the credit management of a diverse portfolio of counterparties operating in the Agricultural and Metals commodity sectors (including producers, trade houses, storage providers and corporates etc.)

including:

  • Credit analysis: Develop deep industry expertise to support quantitative and qualitative credit assessments. Prepare accurate and rigorous written analysis, distilling the counterparty risk profile and providing the basis for setting internal ratings andrecommending credit limits. Onboard new clients and maintain a portfolio of clients through annual credit reviews.
  • Trade approval recommendations: Respond in a timely manner to provide riskbased recommendations and decisions on new trade requests.
  • Relationship management: Build strong working relationship with external clients, internal business partners, Risk counterparts, Legal and Operations teams.
  • Risk monitoring: Undertake regular exposure analysis including internal stress testing and monitoring of financial data and operational reports.
  • Trading/Lending documentation: Liaise with clients, Legal and other internal stakeholders in negotiating credit terms as part of the documentation process (ISDA/CSA, Loan Facilities, etc).
  • Portfolio reviews: Preparation of portfolio reports and reviews, and
  • Strategic projects to support our business goals.


In addition, you will also be responsible to independently develop high quality credit analysis with a focus on business rationale key risks, sources of repayment, projections, and risk/reward profile.

You'll need to bring the following skills and experience:

  • Strong communication skills to provide concise and insightful credit recommendations.
  • Natural curiosity and a drive to deepen your knowledge base
  • Developed interpersonal skills which will allow you to work effectively with various internal stakeholders and participate in client meetings.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate key risks that arise from proposed transactions and potential mitigants.
  • Familiarity with financial/physical commodity products and understanding of related credit exposure.
  • Ability to work on transactions in a fastpaced capital markets/trading environment.


Ideally, you will have working knowledge of some physical commodities markets, and OTC derivative and Futures products, with well-developed organisational skills.

Your ability to communicate effectively at all levels with risk colleagues, front office stakeholdersand external clients are key to your success in this role.

On the technical side, you will be a proficient user of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ideally you will have prior experience in a credit risk related function and/or related qualifications (CFA/FRMor other equivalent).
