About us:

The Centre serves the community within the West of Gateshead, particularly Ryton, Crawcrook, Clara Vale, Greenside and Stella.

The centre offers a wide program of activities for all ages, including an inclusive youth group, fitness classes, Zumba, arts and crafts, Age UK and Slimming World.

A voluntary management committee runs the centre made up of local people. They are responsible for the internal maintenance and running costs of the centre.

We aim to maintain and develop the centre for the local community, ensuring a well-maintained and safe building for people to meet and take part in a wide range of inclusive activities from all ages that will benefit them both physically and mentally.

About the role:

The aim of the SICG (Sustain, Innovate, Communicate and Growth) community project is to ensure that Barmoor Hub

  • Social action_ people are working for the benefit of the local community by volunteering and bringing a range of generations together to increase community cohesion.

To ensure that we provide services to a greater age range, as predominantly 57% of our users of the centre are over the age of 65, this is an area we would like to grow as part of the project.

Communication is a key aspect of the project, by increasing our social media presence will increase the centre's usage and participation in existing and new groups for us to achieve the project goals.
