GCU UK Ltd are looking for HSEQ Advisor to join our team in Newcastle.


The purpose of the role is to ensure that each member of the GCU family returns home safe every day and that our operations are within the bounds of statutory legal compliance.

To strive for continual improvement reducing the risk of harm to people, the environment, and assets in all that we do.


The HSEQ Advisor will be expected to

  • Lead by example at all times with regards to all matters relating to Health, Safety, Environment and Quality
  • Challenge and intervene when poor safety behaviours or unsafe conditions are observed
  • Keep up to date with new HSEQ or industry related legislation

Operational Duties will be

  • Support Operations with HSEQ Advice
  • Engage with the workforce to ensure H&S is paramount to all
  • Create and deliver Toolbox Talks
  • Represent HSEQ Team at Client and other Stakeholder Meetings
  • Assist with the development and continual improvement of the Management Systems
  • Deliver H&S Inductions
  • Carry out risk assessments
  • Conduct H&S Audits
  • Investigate and report incidents
  • Host H&S Meetings
  • Represent HSEQ Team at Client and other Stakeholder Meetings
  • Assist with the development and continual improvement of the Management Systems

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

  • Willingness to learn and educate others
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or higher)
  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction Health & Safety (Desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar role (Desirable)
  • Working knowledge of Construction (Design & Management) Regs
  • Ability to liaise with staff and operatives at all levels
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills
  • Ability to plan and manage time and workload effectively
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Full UK/EU Driving Licence. As travel around contracts will be required.
  • CSCS Card
