About the role*We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll & Benefits Adviser to join our team on a full time, permanent basis.

We have hybrid working arrangements in place which offer the opportunity to work 2 days in the office (Daresbury Park) and 3 days working from home.


The role of Payroll & Benefits Adviser is integral to ensuring that our monthly payroll is executed accurately and on time.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all payroll related data is collected, processed, and approved ready for submission to our third-party payroll provider.

Working to tight timescales, you will also be responsible for pension and benefit administration.


Key Roles & Responsibilities*- Working in a standalone role, within a wider HR team, create and provide monthly payroll submissions to our external payroll provider - including salary changes, pay deductions, overtime and additional hours, maternity, and paternity leave payments etc.


  • Accurate and timely input of variable payroll data to the HR database (SuccessFactors)
  • Liaison with the wider HR team to ensure all new starter, leaver details and static payroll changes are updated in time to be actioned in the correct payroll month.
  • Ensure & administer payments to benefits providers and other disbursements relating to benefits.
  • Ensure compliance with Auto-Enrolment legislation and company obligations.
  • Provide first line support for employees and line managers in relation to payroll and benefit queries.


Whilst we use an external payroll provider, you will be our internal payroll guru, understanding the challenges and tackling them with confidence.

Self-motivated, flexible, and with a collaborative working style you will be able to demonstrate the following key skills/experience:


  • Experience of working within a payroll function in a similar sized organisation (c. 300 employees).
  • Experience of working with outsourced payroll arrangements.
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation.
  • Experience of benefits administration.
  • Good multitasking and organisational skills.
  • Excellent numeracy skills coupled with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.
