  • To provide a highquality reception service, whether on the main reception desk or in specialist areas

Duties will include:

  • Dealing competently, professionally and sympathetically with patients and their escorts visiting the department, some of whom may be aggressive, distressed, or has communication difficulties arising from linguistic difficulties and a variety of other causes.
  • Whilst on reception ensuring that patients are directed to the appropriate waiting area
  • Providing a highquality responsive telephone service, dealing with general enquiries or referring calls to the relevant person or department
  • To assist in the organisation and servicing of clinics within radiology.
  • Advise patients as per agreed protocols.
  • Send out appointment and prep sheets and deal with telephone queries.
  • Prepare referrals for verification and/or discussion by consultant radiologists.
  • Deal with DNA patients according to department protocols.
  • Liaise with medical staff about inpatient appointments and ward visits.
To provide a flexible and responsive outpatient appointment service including:

  • Making appointments, where appropriate, when requested electronic orders, by letter, telephone, or the patient's personal attendance.
  • Providing from department protocols any relevant medical and dietary information.
