HR Star is proud to be partnering with Emmaus Gloucestershire to appoint a
Chief Executive Officer for their incredible
charity.

Emmaus Gloucestershire provides a home for as long as it's needed and meaningful work to those who have experienced homelessness.


Reporting to the Board of Trustees, The CEO will be responsible for delivering strategic and operational plans, ensuring the safety and well-being of companions, promoting Emmaus Gloucestershire internally and externally, and partnering with other organisations to further growth, reputation, and development of the organisation.


This role will require travel from time to time, as well as covering an on-call rota which may mean working some weekends.

This role will require you to be on-site for the majority, as well as helping out in some of the shops or properties.


Responsibilities:


  • Support and advise the Board on the development of strategic and operational plans, and to ensure that the agreed outcomes are delivered.
  • Ensure that budgets, accounts, and financial forecasts are prepared on a regular basis and presented to the Board with key issues drawn to their attention.
  • Translate agreed strategic and operational targets and standards into actively monitored work programmes.
  • Continually develop and improve the organisation, ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and personal development of each companion so that they can reach their potential through effective support and training.
  • Maintain Emmaus Gloucestershire's culture of collaborative decisionmaking, through the appropriate consultation and involvement of companions, staff, volunteers, and trustees.
  • Lead cultural and organisational change as required and respond on a timely basis to internal and external drivers of change.
  • Ensure that appropriate financial and business strategies are developed and implemented to ensure the financial stability of Emmaus Gloucestershire.
  • Ensure the development and delivery of an external relations strategy to raise the profile of Emmaus Gloucestershire.
  • Attend and participate in national and international Emmaus meetings.
  • Balance Emmaus Gloucestershire's charitable purpose with its social enterprise activities.
  • Any other duties as may be required from time to time by the Board of Trustees, compatible with this post.
  • Part of the team oncall rota for companions and oncall to respond to any alarm calls for all business sites.

  • Experience of empowering and motivating teams of people from diverse backgrounds to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Experience of successfully developing and implementing strategic business plans, budgets, and policies to achieve organisational vision and growth.
  • Demonstrable success in building and maintaining a wide range of collaborative relationships and partnerships in the wider community.
  • Experience of designing and implementing systems and procedures to ensure the smooth and efficient running of an organisation.
  • A proven record of implementing organisational and cultural change, with a particular focus on growth and development.
  • Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and connect effectively with a wide range of people, organisations, and audiences.
  • Demonstrable empathy for people who have experienced homelessness and social exclusion, and an understanding of issues surrounding these experiences.
  • A strong understanding of social enterprise and income generation in the notforprofit sector.
  • Understanding of governance structures in the notforprofit sector and the role of trustees and/or nonexecutive directors.
  • Understanding of digital technology and its role in communication, income generation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Resilient and robust able to work in a complex environment and manage stress/ high pressure situations with maturity and selfawareness.
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality of opportunity, respect, openness, and fairness in all aspects of Emmaus Gloucestershire's activities.
  • Ability to work outside of normal office hours when required.
  • Ability to travel occasionally within the United Kingdom, with overnight stays when necessary.
  • Must be able to fulfill oncall responsibilities whether in person or via telephone when required.
