This role is part of Real Ideas Arts & Making which is focused on enabling Ocean Studios to become a leading specialist facility, supporting people to develop their practice (currently in printmaking and ceramics) so they can make, sell, and grow creative careers, making money from doing what they love.

It will offer community engagement; support for makers; commercial products; and ways to express ideas.


Job Purpose


The Arts & Making Programme Coordinator plays a key role in the Real Ideas Arts & Making team, developing our space and services to ensure Ocean Studios is a welcoming art and making space, always delivering excellent customer experience, underpinned by efficient, effective systems, processes, and procedures.


The Arts & Making Programme Coordinator will work closely and flexibly with other members of the Real Ideas Arts & Making team, to ensure the overall success of Real Ideas Arts & Making and maximise opportunities for shared learning, innovation, and growth.


Main duties and responsibilities

  • Train and manage Arts & Making Hosts, ensuring they always deliver excellent customer experience, creating value for members and everyone who uses Ocean Studios, enhancing customers' printmaking experiences.
  • Work with Programme & Exhibitions Lead to coordinate large events organised by both members and with others in the Arts and Making team.
  • To work effectively and productively with partners and stakeholders and take responsibility for agreed areas of relationship management with the support of Programme & Exhibitions Lead.
  • Working with Real Ideas Head of Shared Infrastructure and Programme & Exhibitions Lead to support day to day health and safety at Ocean Studios, including adherence to Safer Food, Better Business and execution of our duties as a landlord.
  • Working with Programme & Exhibitions Lead to support and understand budget in area of work and support team to contribute to financial targets.
  • Ensure programmes are promoted effectively, source and share content to maintain an effective and high profile on all relevant social media platforms that measurably leads to sales and participation.
  • Provide administrative support to the team to ensure 'best' use of our systems, particularly Hubspot, the ticketing platform and other key systems and processes to enable us to reach and serve customers more effectively.
  • Manage access cards, printing and other practical tasks as required, including member inductions (in association with Shared Infrastructure).
  • Provide timely responses to basic member enquiries using a range of platforms.
  • Work closely with the other members of the Real Ideas Arts & Making team to deliver the overall ambitions, maximize impact and minimise duplication
  • As part of the Real Ideas Arts & Making team, take collective responsibility for the security and management of Ocean Studios, including responding to out of hours alarm calls and other emergencies.
