The Centre for Health Economics (CHE) is a stimulating research environment, and one of the world's largest health research centres.

Established at the University of York in 1983, it was one of the world's first research institutes dedicated to the study of health economics, and rapidly established a leading international reputation.

In a ranking of the top 100 institutions in health economics in the world, the University of York has been ranked 7th and is the highest ranking European institution.

In 2018, CHE was named as one of the UK's 100 Best Breakthroughs for our significant impact on people's everyday lives by making healthcare systems fairer and more effective.

We are a community of over 90 staff and students, including research staff, support staff, and PhD students. Within the Centre, the TEEHTA team undertakes economic evaluation activities spanning pharmacoeconomics, public health and social care. It undertakes applied and methodological work for local, national and international decision makers.

We have a significant research portfolio that includes a new of large programmes of research, including two policy research units, our role as a NICE assessment group and theme leads for the NIHR Applied Research Collaborations.

Role:


The research fellow will contribute to a range of projects in the broad field of economic evaluation applied to health and social care.

Projects will include quantitative analyses to inform trial-based and model based economic evaluation, working with large non-randomised and randomised datasets, and policy analyses to inform decisions in the UK and internationally, including those under the NICE technology assessment programme, as well as methods development projects.


Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:


  • Knowledge and understanding of economic evaluation and decision analytic models to engage in high quality research
  • Knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies for the evaluation of interventions
  • Research expertise in an area that will complement and enhance the department's research strategy and goals
  • Knowledge of statistical/econometric methods applied in costeffectiveness analysis
  • Evidence of strong quantitative skills, including analysis of randomised and nonrandomised datasets
  • Skills in use of spreadsheets and/or statistical software packages
  • Highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wideranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media
