Main Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the role is to work within the bid management process and team, delivering bids to the customer base through the development of high quality and compelling proposals to meet business targets for growth and profitability.

Accountable for the submission of high quality, compelling bids to Rail's customers.

Required to work proactively with limited supervision to deliver high quality responses to customer enquiries which will support successful opportunity conversion.

Spread Of Skills & Analysis Required

The nature of the role is varied; good customer and market knowledge is required, the ability to work on the basis of self-initiative.

An excellent knowledge of general bidding processes is required for the role, as well as a good basic knowledge of commercialterms and conditions.

Excellent bid writing skills are required for the role. A demonstrable collaborative approach to stakeholder management is essential for the role.
Qualifications & Education

Essential:
Mathematics and English to GCSE standard or equivalent.

Desirable:
Formal Professional Qualification

Experience & Proven Ability Required

  • Experience in bid management / proposal writing
  • Excellent bid writing skills
  • Experience of managing multiple internal and / or external stakeholders
Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Planning, preparation and delivery of high quality responses to ITT/RFQ, presentations and proposals for existing and prospective customers
  • Reviewing tender documents with the relevant opportunity owner, to specify resource requirements, develop specific tender strategies, time plans and relevant action logs, collaborating with cross functional teams as required
  • Supporting the Business Development Teams with tender presentations as required
  • Management of after action reviews for tenders in order to capture opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Maintenance of CRM with all relevant bid management information
  • Understand, articulate and write about Rail's product and service propositions
  • Proactively monitoring and managing customer portals in order to identify new bidding opportunities
  • Maintaining elibrary content for bids
  • Supporting the training of the bid process across users, ensuring adherence to the process
  • Support with the production of weekly / monthly management reporting information
  • Working with legal in the preparation of GTC reviews
  • To achieve and maintain a minimum of level 3 competency in the Way Tools and Techniques
  • Any other duties/responsibilities as identified and commensurate with the role
  • Maintenance of good knowledge of market conditions
  • Work in a safe manner, taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and other people at work, following appropriate Health and Safety guidance, training and company rules and procedures as appropriate
  • Report any accidents, hazards or dangerous / unsafe behavior to your line manager immediately
