Apprentice Electrician


Our exciting and innovative Apprenticeship Programmes are designed to attract and develop a diverse range of talented individuals who will contribute to the continued growth and success of our business.

This role forms part of the Construction Team. Construction is the part of the process which is most visible and where craft trades are required. This is where the vision and planning becomes a reality


What do I achieve?

Level 3 Installation electrician and maintenance electrician

  • Course Duration: up to 4 years, plus end point assessment (EPA)

Tell me all about the role

  • Assisting in checking electrical systems to make sure they are working safely.
  • Assist with building and installing control panels that operate electrical systems in buildings.
  • Fit electrical wiring, sockets and switches to newbuild homes.
  • Carry out basic trade instructions, read and interpret drawings.
  • To work effectively as part of a team and with other trades.
  • Undertake repair works as required.

What is an apprenticeship?


An apprenticeship is a paid job which offers hands-on work experience alongside off-the-job training to anyone over the age of 16.

As an apprentice you are an employee with a contract of employment, holiday leave and all the benefits of being a full time member of staff.

By the end of an apprenticeship, you'll have the skills and knowledge needed for your chosen career along with practical experience and a nationally recognised qualification.


What does off-the-job training look like at Bellway?
Our apprentice opportunities are registered with a college or training provider to deliver the apprenticeship framework or standard.

There is a range of delivery methods such as, attending college one day each week, an assessor delivering sessions in the workplace, or distance learning.


Apprentices will also have the opportunity to attend regular skills workshops to develop transferable skills, business knowledge, and build a network of peer support to share best practices.

Our final stage consists of the following depending on the Level of Apprenticeship:


  • Level
  • 3 Apprenticeships: A final stage interview held with the local hiring manager, this will be face to face in either the Divisional Office or a Site nearby.

How long does an apprenticeship take to complete?


An apprenticeship takes a minimum of 12 months to a maximum of 5 years depending on the level of apprenticeship that you are studying and which industry sector you are training in.


By rule of thumb:

  • Level 2: 1218 months
  • Level 3: 24 months
  • Degree: up to 5 years
