This is a truly unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced Specialist Palliative care nurse with a proven track record of strong leadership to join a highly motivated, extremely driven, and inspirational Specialist Palliative care team based at Salisbury NHS Foundation trust.


The Salisbury Specialist Palliative Care Service is a well-established, dynamic, and integrated NHS service, incorporating a ten bedded hospice inpatient unit, community team, hospice at home service, hospital support team, day care services, family support and bereavement services.

The service is based at Salisbury Hospice, on the Salisbury District Hospital site.

This is an amazing opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious, and experienced Senior Nurse to lead our Specialist Palliative care service along with the Clinical consultant and Service manager.

Working collaboratively with other specialist services across the integrated care system (ICS), you will be joining a service which aspires to provide care of the highest quality, to all patients and families with Specialist Palliative and end of life care needs.


The Matron for Specialist Palliative Care services will provide senior clinical and professional nursing leadership to a fully integrated NHS service based at the acute hospital site and managed within the Clinical Support and Family Services Division.


As a key member of a triumvirate Team, you will work together with The Specialist Palliative Care Clinical Lead and Service manager to steer Specialist Palliative Care Services and influence continuous improvement within the service and across the wider Integrated Care System (ICS).

The post holder is accountable for coordinating safe, high quality, focused care to improve patient, family, and staff experience.

The post holder will have overall responsibility for the line management of senior nursing staff and resources within Specialist Palliative services, ensuring visible clinical leadership and high professional and clinical standards are maintained


The post holder will be responsible for writing and implementing policies, patient pathways, interpreting and advising on national policy and guidelines and ensuring compliance across clinical teams.


In collaboration with the Specialist Palliative Care team and Divisional Head of Nursing the post holder will develop and implement clinical effectiveness and quality improvement programs for palliative care services across the trust and community.
