The Role

  • As part of Lancashire Football Association's drive and commitment to improve participation for all our football family, we are seeking a dedicated, highly motivated and inspiring team member to join the Football Delivery Team and focus on community engagement and inclusion in football.


This role's primary objective will be to ensure football is accessible and welcoming for all, regardless of background or ability, and the role will particularly support our community members who have either perceived or physical barriers that have made it more challenging to fully engage with the game and reap the benefits and opportunities that football brings.


Key Accountabilities

  • Represent Lancashire FA with internal and external stakeholders, campaigners and networking groups, positively engaging and informing on diversity and inclusion targets and activities.
  • Work with staff across departments to support in the delivery of diversity and inclusion targets and in creating a more inclusive culture across Lancashire FA.
  • Work with the Lancashire Football Association Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Football Advisory Board to consult on plans and engage to foster advocates for diversity and inclusion activities.
  • Ensure Lancashire FA maintains the Preliminary Level of the Equality Standard.
  • Lead the creation of the annual external report on Lancashire FA's progress with diversity and inclusion programmes and published targets.
  • Develop activities and campaigns which will support the achievement of Lancashire FA's diversity and inclusion targets.
  • Provide expertise and guidance on all diversity and inclusion matters.
  • Establish constructive working relationships with key stakeholders with regular contact to promote collaboration and sharing of good practice.
  • Identify sources of funding that will be of benefit to key stakeholders and provide advice and guidance to applicants.
  • Recruit, retain and develop diverse coaches through The FA qualification framework and local CPD opportunities, with a focus on black, Asian and minority ethnic coaches and female coaches.
  • Work with the Referee Development Officer to recruit, retain and develop diverse (with a key focus on black, Asian and minority ethnic ) referees.
  • Use national and local data, research and customer insight to drive black, Asian and minority ethnic player participation in grassroots football.

What we are looking for

  • Essential
  • Degree level qualification or two years' sports development experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of football/disability football structures and development pathways at local, regional and national level.
  • Knowledge and understanding of working with volunteers.
  • Knowledge of The FA's National Game Strategy.
  • Commitment to sports equality, diversity and inclusion and knowledgeof the barriers facing underrepresented groups.
  • Demonstrable working understanding of inclusion, equality and antidiscrimination, safeguarding and best practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant funding agencies.
  • Knowledge about the additional vulnerability and challenges faced by some groups of children and young people, e.g. those with disabilities, from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.
  • Minimum 2 years practical experience of Sports/Football Development.
  • Interest and passion for disability football with experience of workingw ith diverse communities.
  • Internal and external stakeholder relations with the ability to work strategically with partner organisations across different sectors to plan and deliver football programmes.
  • Project management skills and experience to plan, set and achieve objectives within strict deadlines and monitor and evaluate the outcomes.
  • Effective prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Excellent persuasive communication skills using traditional, modern and emerging media to influence behaviour change.
Desirable

  • Project Management qualification.
  • Knowledge of the service providers that support people with a disability both Nationally and within the Lancash
