Part-time hours per week

Band - starting salary £14,719 with annual, incremental progression up to £15,866
Arts University Plymouth is looking for a talented and proactive individual to join the University's Technical team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and creative environment. This post will sit within our Fabric Lab team, with a specialism in Textile design skills.


If you have knowledge and/or experience relating to Knitting machines, Tufting guns, Domestic Sewing machines and Dye processes, this would be a well suited role for you.

You will be required to keep your knowledge up to date, liaising with staff to ensure that right skills are being delivered in order to support the students' wider studies.


A knowledge within Interior Design, Costume or Fashion would be advantageous, as the Fabric Lab supports courses with these disciplines.


About you:


  • You'll hold skills in dye processes, machine knitting, embroidery and screen printing processes
  • You will hold knowledge of different resources and machinery within têxtilesrelated disciples, such as machine knitting, their uses and their maintenance
  • Experience in using designbased software, such as AVA design software, would be advantageous

About the role:


  • To develop and deliver a range of Workshop/Studio/Subject Area's sessions i.e. inductions/process which form part of a Universitywide Workshop/Studio/Subject Area's provision that can be delivered as part of the curriculum offer
  • To ensure that a safe working environment is achieved within the studio areas at all times
