Content Development Manager

The role


In this newly-created role, as the IoD's Content Development Manager, you will be responsible for the content development in both print, virtual digital formats, for the IoD's Develop product offering to ensure we maintain our cutting-edge relevance and adapt to the latest business trends.

This role will report into the Director of Professional Development Services.

This role can be based remotely across the UK.


What you'll be doing

  • Monitoring and benchmarking our project offering with leading competitors to ensure we maintain our relevance and respond to market trends
  • Ensure we maintain a high standard of customer satisfaction and NPS scores regarding our course content
  • Responsible for the content development for our full suite of professional development programs including CPD, one day course, accredited courses
  • Working with a range of external suppliers to provide text design, graphics, photos, audio/visual assets, copyright clearance, ebook conversion and other editorial services.
  • Provide guidance and input on digital learning resources.
  • Developing bespoke course outlines and learning outcomes to support incompany client proposals.
  • Communicating with clients and strategic account managers as needed, to develop a clearer understanding of client needs.
  • Communicating regularly with the IoD's course leaders and reviewing feedback to support the continued development and improvement of IoD programmes.
  • Supporting the assessment team with the annual and full accreditation of our Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction
  • Development of our suite of CPD offerings for members
  • Lead for our Digital Academy LMS platform to ensure we maximize our investment.
  • Assisting with queries from stakeholders in relation to the content and design of DEVELOP programmes.

Knowledge & skills

  • Highly organised with strong project management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with specialist, academic and practicebased content with the confidence to make editorial decisions.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), and familiarity with Adobe InDesign and Adobe Connect.
  • Meticuluous approach and detail orientated with strong editorial and copywriting skills with excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Experience of acting in accordance with the IoD's key values, Teamwork, Leadership, Agility and Respect.

Qualifications & experience

Essential

  • Degree level qualification.
  • An understanding of training and teaching approaches is essential, preferably evidenced by a recognised learning and development or adult teaching qualification or practical teaching/training experience.
  • Minimum of four years' experience managing the development and production of content and learning materials for professional or HE courses, ideally in both print and digital formats.

Desirable

  • Ideally have some knowledge of course design. A track record of managing and delivering complex projects on time and budget is desirable.
  • Experience working with accredited programs.
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of the business environment including corporate governance and ESG.
  • Experience working with a range of stakeholders, including content providers, teachers/trainers, external suppliers and senior members of staff.
  • Experience of acting in accordance with the IoD's key values, Teamwork, Leadership, Agility and Respect.

  • A confident and diplomatic communicator, who can can work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, in addition to being a motivated proactive selfstarter with the ability to work independently.
  • An optimistic high performer with a willingness to develop and grow in the role.
