Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Manager to join a growing business that provides strategic supply chain solutions to customers.

They are on a path of significant growth with big plans for the future, having already invested,and continuing to invest heavily to create a strong and competitive position in their markets.

This is a newly created role, and you will be accountable for the whole site encompassing warehouse operations, customer relationships, health and safety, P&L, processimprovements and communications and engagements.


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the site operations to work efficiently and effectively to drive productivity.
  • Work with the managers within the business to identify and optimise the total Supply Chain Solution offering to the customer.
  • Work closely with the customer in order to understand fully their requirements and expectations.
  • Develop, agree, and manage the operations with respect to customer and company objectives via sound performance based KPI's.
  • Understand the customers' issues and drive business improvements to aid resolution.
  • Optimise the utilisation of all assets across the operation.
  • Ensure the stock control systems are kept up to date and ensure inventories are accurate.
  • Support the personal development of the operational management team through training, appraisal, and succession planning.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
  • P&L management and adherence to budgets. Identifying areas of waste and working in conjunction with the site Managers to reduce inefficiencies and improve profit.
  • Ensure production planning processes are aligned with customer demands and shipping needs.
  • Appropriately plan, manage, and deploy all resources in the most costeffective manner for the business and customers.
  • Lead the management of the outsourced fleet (through line management of the Transport Manager), ensuring assets and logistics are well planned and managed
  • Responsible for site HR processes, taking support and advice from the HR team to ensure all HR processes and policies are followed in a consistent manner, aligned with the rest of the company.
  • Support the personal development of the operational management team through training, appraisal, and succession planning.
  • Communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately to colleagues at all levels.
  • Recognise good performance and address poor performance proactively, taking support and advice from the HR team and peers as appropriate.
  • Lead by example having a positive leadership and attitude approach.
  • Ensure your teams work effectively and cohesively.
  • Support supervisors to manage and coordinate their teams to work effectively.
  • Provide data and reports as required, in a clear, concise, and agreed format.
  • Support new business proposals and ownership of contract renewals and rate negotiations.
  • Identify opportunities for and initiate Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Plan how future operational requirements may be met.
  • Ensure all H&S requirements are being met and be a champion in this field.
  • Ensure the implementation of company audit schedules.
  • Meet and communicate with the main suppliers of agency, packaging, transport, and parcel couriers.
