An exciting opportunity has arisen for an additional Deputy Director to join our highly regarded and established Milton Keynes Community Health Services (MKCHS).


We are looking for an experienced senior manager who is committed to delivering high quality patient care and who has significant experience of leading within a health setting.


  • The post holder will have managerial responsibility for the effective operational running of the Directorate and to ensure there is robust financial management in line with Directorate, Divisional and Trust targets.
  • The post holder will deputise for the Service Director in their absence or as delegated and will be expected to assume managerial responsibility and lead service developments for the Directorate as delegated by the Service Director.
  • As a senior manager the post holder will work with the Service Director to ensure that there is a clear strategic direction for the Directorate, which is integrated within the overall strategic direction for Directorate and the Division.
  • The post holder is a member of the Directorate Senior Management team and as such has a responsibility to participate in the management of the service and provide sound advice and guidance to the Service Director.
  • The post holder will be expected to assist with the implementation of service redesign and will be expected to identify new areas for business development and take the lead on the tender process.
  • The post holder will work with Service Managers and the wider health and social care economy to develop strategies in line with the National Agenda.

To provide leadership and management across MKCHS.

To play a lead role in the planning and development of the Directorate in conjunction with the Service and Clinical Director

  • To contribute to the establishment of new services and to lead change management in the implementation of service development strategies
  • To take the lead on management of directorate wide services, as delegated by the Service Director
  • To advance innovative ideas and strategies and provide vision and inspiration to enable staff to deliver care more effectively.
  • To be an active member of relevant strategic development groups
  • To represent the Service Director at trustwide forums
  • To identify new business opportunities for the Directorate and take the lead on all tenders for new business
As a senior manager the post holder must give assurance to the Service Director and Clinical Director of the following:

  • Effective performance management and professional and clinical leadership of the workforce in the Directorate
  • Effective leadership and direction to the service managers in the boroughs Services are provided within the statutory framework
  • Services are cost effective and delivered within budget
  • Financial management is robust and inline with Directorate, divisional and Trust targets including the assurance of a realistic Cost Improvement Programme
  • Services meet care quality and performance management standard
