Role Description:


Core tasks will include:


  • Coordinating a significant number of main board and subcommittee meetings, ensuring accurate minutes are taken
  • Inputting into the agendas for meetings
  • Action management between meetings and liaison with both Trustees and other key scheme stakeholders such as advisers like the Scheme Actuary and investment adviser
  • Dealing with Trustee discretion cases and overseeing budget and invoice monitoring
  • Overseeing project work
  • Taking responsibility for obtaining appropriate inputs to the Scheme Return and ensuring submission to The Pensions Regulator
  • Supporting on wider governance work for schemes such as the implementation of the General Code of Practice, risk management support and board effectiveness evaluations.

Skills and Qualifications Required

Qualifications:


  • Ideally, a professional qualification (or partqualification) in pensions (e.g. APMI, AFPC or IFoA) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Educated to at least A' level/Scottish Higher level or with demonstrable equivalent experience.

Skills:


  • Experience of leading and advising UK pension funds within a complex pensions environment in a Trustee Executive or Scheme secretarial role.
  • Technical competence and solid understanding of the legislative framework for UK pension schemes.
  • Strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and rapid change
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to positively and sensitively work with senior stakeholders
  • Good written communication skills
  • Ability to align people behind a vision and motivate them to achieve it
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders with varying objectives
  • Ability to find ways of solving or preempting problems
  • Experience of operating successfully in a previous consultancy role.
