Empowering Learning are supporting a school in the DE23 area with their recruitment of a special needs teaching assistant. The school is a vibrant and inclusive educational institution committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for all students.

Located in DE2- close to Markeaton Island, our school is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

Provide oneonone support to students with special educational needs, assisting them with academic tasks and fostering their social and emotional development.
Working closely with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the classroom.
Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the ongoing assessment and review process.
Create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of students at all times.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs is highly desirable.
Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent are advantageous.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing demands of the role and respond effectively to individual student requirements.
