Empowering Learning are supporting a school in the DE23 area with their recruitment of a special needs teaching assistant. The school is a vibrant and inclusive educational institution committed to providing exceptional learning experiences for all students.
Located in DE2- close to Markeaton Island, our school is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Responsibilities:
- Provide oneonone support to students with special educational needs, assisting them with academic tasks and fostering their social and emotional development.
- Working closely with classroom teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning strategies.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the classroom.
- Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the ongoing assessment and review process.
- Create a supportive and nurturing environment where students feel valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.
- Assist with personal care tasks as required, ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of students at all times.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent are advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of students with diverse needs.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing demands of the role and respond effectively to individual student requirements.
