The Patient Safety Partner (PSP) role is an exciting new and innovative role, a key member of our Patient Safety Team, committed to ensuring the lived experience voice has a positive influence across all levels of the organisation to improve patient safety.

NLMHP recognises, values and supports the very important role Patient Safety Partners will play and that their active contributions are integral to the organisation's development and in achieving its aims.

The PSP will work with staff as equal partners to influence and improve the governance and leadership of safety within the Trusts.


As part of the Patient Safety Team and with close working relationships with the Service User Experience and Engagement Team, the PSP will be fully supported with training provided.


The main role of the Patient Safety Partner is to ensure that the lived experience voice is heard and embedded within the organisations, with the core purpose of improving safety and quality.


The Patient Safety Partner will be to work with staff across both Trusts to ensure that we prioritise the safety requirements of our patients, thereby helping to eliminate avoidable incidents and serious incidents and improving the quality of our services.


The Patient Safety Partner will co-lead on the development and delivery of staff training in relation to patient safety, lead on patient safety-related projects, and ensure involvement of experts by experience in patient safety processes and practices.
