NIGHT SHIFT:
Mon to Thurs 10.00 p.m. to 7.30 a.m


The Role


You will be expected to achieve high standards of quality, in line with targeted levels of output whilst working safely and maintaining full product traceability.

You will be working as part of a team and you are expected to contribute to improving any workingprocesses.

The main tasks of the role are outlined below:

  • Set up tools and load materials onto CNC machine.
  • Carry out machining of components.
  • To measure components produced on machines and use inspection equipment to ensure that components are manufactured to drawing dimensions and tolerances.
  • Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings.
  • Contribute in a team working environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Manually handle weights up to 25kg.
  • Complete quality documentation.
  • Use computer equipment for data purposes.
  • Work to lean theory.
  • Observe and practice the 5S principles.

  • Mori Seiki Manual Loading Lathes
Mori Seiki Driven Tooling Lathe
Mori Seiki Vertical Milling Machine
Mori Seiki Horizontal Machine Centre
Mori Seiki 2 + 4 Axis Gantry Loading Lathe
Nakamura Twin Spindle/Twin Turret Barfeed Lathe.
Nakamura Twin Spindle/Twin Turret Gantry Lathe
Okuma 4 Axis Barfeed Lathe
Okuma Multus Lathe
Okuma Horizonal Machining Centre
Star Sliding Head Barfeed
ORT Spline Roller

The role also includes other general duties to maintain the efficient working of the department.

The above list of tasks is not exhaustive, and the post holder may be required to undertake duties as may be reasonably expected.

An essential element of the role is to take responsibility for quality of own work to establish and successfully maintain a 'right first time' philosophy throughout the organisation.

In a bid for continuous improvement all SCO's will be provided with internaland external training where necessary to keep them up to date with factory processes and equipment.


Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and engineering quality plans.
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.
  • A methodical approach to systems and understanding of the importance of standards and established/agreed systems of work.
  • Able to make decisions based on experience, have confidence to act and make changes within given boundaries.
  • Good personal organisation under pressure from time, internal and external customers.
  • Ability to read and understand written planning and follow verbal instructions.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Experience of working with stainless steels and machine programming using Fanuc/Okuma/Mazak CNC controls.
  • Be proficient at set up, operation and adjustment of tool and fixture offsets on CNC machine tools as well as conventional milling machines would be preferred.
  • Experience of working to tight tolerances.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of machining stainless steels in a variety of forms including billet, castings and pressings would be advantageous.

Qualifications
Time served engineer (or have an equivalent qualification) IDEALLY
