Overtime rate: 6th day 1.5 7th day 2

To manage and control the day-to-day operational needs of HWRC site(s) for the local authority contract. The role will involve both administration duties and site based operational duties. Ensuring always that the HWRC site(s) operate in accordance with, contract requirements, statutory legislation, environmental obligations, and company procedures.

  • Provide supervision of the daytoday activities at site(s).
  • Ensure full operational compliance to meet and exceed contract specification.
  • To plan, organise and manage operations in a safe environment at all designated HWRC site(s).
  • The job holder must ensure that internal and external customer service levels are met in an efficient, profitable, safe and healthy manner.
  • To optimise production throughput at the HWRC site(s) to ensure materials are despatched in a timely manner and in line with current legislation.
  • To ensure that all site(s) are safely operated with suitably competent and trained staff.
  • Ensure budgets are controlled in order to ensure department contribution levels.
  • To ensure plant is maintained and repaired to agreed Company and Legislative standards and performance (PPM).
  • Where applicable to provide the necessary quality material together with all required supporting documentation to facilitate sale and disposal of materials generated by operations.
  • To operate site(s) while maintaining compliance with the Environmental Permit, Site Working Plan and Planning Permission.
  • Ensure that the HWRC site(s) meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • To lead, direct and motivate all staff to ensure excellent customer service whilst maximising recycling performance.
  • To carry out annual and timely Performance Annual Reviews (PAR's) of all direct reports.
  • Authorise, supervise, and monitor all maintenance & improvement works in accordance with company policies & current legislation.
  • Ensure all legislative documentation is updated in accordance with company policy.
  • Maintain a positive and trustworthy relationship with client.
  • To undertake any duties reasonably requested by your line manager.

  • Plan and control daily operations through the efficient use of staff.
  • To ensure suitable and efficient utilisation of resources to deliver operational performance and availability.
  • To ensure that the agreed level of appropriate monitoring, analysis, recording, and reporting is undertaken, and appropriate corrective actions implemented.
  • Ensure all planned and unplanned maintenance is coordinated to deliver optimum operational availability.
  • Provide a safe and efficient environment ensuring that Health & Safety is always complied with and that all Company procedures and safe systems of work are always adhered to.
  • Provide support in producing annual budget for the facilities and manage and monitor monthly performance in line with the budget.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with Clients, Customers and Members of the public.
  • Maintain and train staff in line with Company Training Matrix.
  • Ensure that HWRC site(s) are operated / managed well to ensure positive public interaction.
  • Manage, lead and motivate a team of 20 employees and agency staff to ensure their potential is realised to the mutual advantage of the Company, customers and employees.
  • Remain fully conversant with waste industry technology, legislation and commercial pressures and development as they affect the Company.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with the client, Regulators and any other bodies with immediate or potential contact with the company.
  • IOSH managing safety or equivalent H&S qualification
  • Wamitab COTC level 4 qualification or working towards. (Desirable)
  • Assist in other areas of the Company's activities as required from time to time.
  • To be available by telephone for emergency call out.
