Under the direction of the Area Co-ordinator streetbased youth workers will engage young people in constructive dialogue about their needs, interests, concerns and lifestyle choices to support them in their personal and social development.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of a programme encouraging the active participation of young people in developing their skills and understanding of others and the world around them.
  • Negotiate with young people and other staff members on their involvement in planning and organising activities for young people.
  • Involve young people in the decisionmaking processes whereby individuals and groups take on responsibilities for themselves and others in their wider community.
  • Respond to individual and group needs, which include issues affecting young people, promoting self awareness and selfesteem.
  • Facilitate young people's learning and their personal and social development.
  • Take part in 4Youth (South West)'s staff performance management to identify priorities and learning needs and to be responsible for the learning and development of one's self.
  • Comply with individual responsibilities for staff and young people, in accordance with work role, legislation and Safeguarding.

Part-time

Part-time hours: 5 per week
