Macmillan Cancer Care Navigator

An exciting opportunity has arisen to become a Macmillan Cancer Care Navigator for ESNEFT based at Ipswich Hospital with travel to local community settings

Would you like to work in a supportive team environment, where you can make a real difference to cancer patients and their families?

This is a fixed term position until 31st March 2025.


We are looking for someone who has good listening skills, enjoy helping others and ideally already has a good knowledge and experience of the NHS.


You will have excellent communication skills and be confident in supporting patients diagnosed with cancer both emotionally and practically, ensuring they get personalised care and the information and support they need.


You will develop good working relationships, with secondary care colleagues and community colleagues by visiting GP practices, facilitating health and wellbeing events and attending cancer service user groups and support groups.

The Cancer Care Navigator will record confidential information by completing databases, templates and NHS IT systems

An important part of this role is to be the patient's link between primary care and secondary care.


Co-ordinate care with the person living with cancer so that they access the right help at the right time, providing a seamless experience of care.

Checking that the person is able to self
- manage and provides a flexible and personalised response to any changes needed.

Help people living with cancer to access referrals and/or signposting to local supportive services.


Throughout the persons journey from diagnosis, to living with and beyond cancer direct the person and family to relevant support and information resources.

Provide regular supported conversations with people living with cancer and offer personalised emotional and practical support.

Create good working relationships with GP Practices and other community colleagues
