Description

Teesside University is a dynamic and innovative institution, founded on more than 85 years of teaching and learning and currently serving a population of over 18,000 students.

At Teesside University we believe that innovation powers our steps to create a world where everyone benefits from progress. We aim to transform lives and economies by delivering outstanding teaching, research, and business engagement.

Building upon the University's many achievements over recent years, 'Ambition Delivered Today', our new Corporate Strategy, sets out a dynamic future for the institution as a central hub of activity and aspiration in the Tees Valley, inspiring our students, colleagues and communities across the world.

Teesside University is at the heart of the East Coast Cluster (ECC), a world leading initiative to decarbonise the industrial heartlands of the Humber and Teesside.

The ECC is set to make CCUS/H2 a reality in the UK and decarbonise a diverse region that represents almost 50% of carbon emissions from all UK clusters.

In addition, the Tees Valley will account for almost 50% of the UK's production of hydrogen, and innovation in this sector is predicted to be a huge driver of economic growth in the region.

This makes the Tees Valley region the 'go-to' place for Net Zero R&D.

We are looking to develop further our research capability and capacity to meet our Net Zero ambitions and are looking to appoint an exceptional individual as Professor or Associate Professor in Low Carbon Materials.

The development of low carbon alternatives to traditional materials and the valorisation of current wastes is crucial to the UK reaching its Net Zero goals, and you will grow existing expertise within Teesside University in the development of low carbon materials.

This role links to Teesside University's Net Zero Industry Innovation Centre (NZIIC).

NZIIC is an innovative new £16.4m facility for industrial decarbonisation and a national centre of excellence for net zero technologies, the NZIIC positions Teesside firmly at the heart of the UK's green industrial revolution, providing a focus for major investment.
