Description

This new post is for a Consultant Haematologist to join the Department of Clinical Haematology which is part of the Clinical Service Unit of In-patient Medical Specialties.

The post holder will work primarily as part of the Haematology Cancer Diagnostics Partnership (HCDP) team.

This team supports the regional haematology malignancy diagnostics service, providing integrated reports that meet the requirements of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Improving Outcomes Guidance (NG42).

The appointee will work as part of the Team reporting of HCDP samples focussing on bone marrow and blood disorder that primarily comprise bone marrow aspirates and blood films although may also cover relevant other diagnostic materials.

The appointee will aid in interpreting immunophenotyping and molecular tests and will provide comprehensive integrated reports across the full range of modalities using the specialist (HODS) software.

Together with other HCDP consultants, the appointee will provide clinical liaison with our users individually or via MDT. This will include attending Haemato-oncology MDTs with histopathology, flow cytometry and molecular haematology.

Other laboratory interests can be developed to help the development of the HCDP Unit and to support career development and this will be encouraged.

The appointee will undertake out-patient clinics specialising in general haematology and MPD once a week. They will be provided with appropriate administrative support to fulfil this role.

Whilst COVID-19 vaccination is not currently a condition of employment, we do encourage our staff to get vaccinated.

If you are unvaccinated, there is helpful advice and information available by searching on the 'NHS England' website where you can also find out more about how to access the vaccination.
