Representing your peers and your College
The RCGP would not exist without its members, each of which has their own needs, interests and aspirations. We exist to support, engage and educate members in their local areas.

We want to support and empower our members to shape our activity aimed at growing an engaged and fulfilled membership.


The role will require the Member to:

  • To represent the interests of members and fellows within the Faculty attending all meetings of the Faculty Board.
  • Be an advisory voice in the RCGP faculty board on issues with Equality, Diversity and inclusion.
  • Be involved in actively promoting engagement and involvement of BAME college members with their local RCGP Faculty
  • To actively promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion awareness within the RCGP Faculty
  • To raise awareness of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion issues experienced by members of the Royal College of GPs.
  • To participate in other Faculty activities according to own interests and skills and the Faculty's needs.
  • Engage and work closely with the RCGP EDI Committee.
  • Willingness to uphold the aims, objectives and values of the RCGP. acting in its best interests and enhancing its reputation as a respected professional and academic body for GPs.
  • Adhere to the relevant policies and procedures of RCGP, including Health and Safety, Safeguarding, Equality and Diversity, Information Security, Declaration of interest's policy and Data Protection. All faculty members are encouraged to declare their interests publicly at

What skills and qualities do you need?

  • Demonstrate understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion and be willing to embed it proactively.
  • To contribute proactively to the Faculty's annual strategic planning and proposed activity delivery
  • Be able to maintain objectivity in advising the RCGP faculty, RCGP members and peers
  • Willing to collaborate and engage others within the RCGP Faculty and beyond to spread best practice and opportunities to advance EDI.
  • Willing to lead on and involve others in any projects that will enhance and promote Diversity and Inclusion across RCGP.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a desire to contribute to positive changes within the RCGP Faculty
  • Reliable and willing to commit time to attend local and national meetings

The term of office for this post is one year.

Appointment Criteria:
A member or fellow of the faculty in good standing, by self-nomination or nomination by Faculty Board member(s).

Overall Purpose of the role : As a member of the Faculty board, to uphold the aims, objectives and values of the Faculty and RCGP acting in its best interests to enhance its reputation as a respected professional and academic body for GPs locally.
