Baker Hughes Flexible Pipe Systems (FPS) located in Newcastle provides unbonded flexible pipes for use in offshore energy systems, ranging from oil and gas projects to Carbon Capture and Storage.

Our subsea and flexible pipe capabilities are industry leading and sold throughout the world, supporting our collective goal of delivering energy security, sustainability, and affordability.

The Associate will bring cutting-edge physical and digital technologies together to create oilfield equipment that is world leading.

Reporting to the project supervisor at Baker Hughes, you will work as part of a collaborative and global research team to embed the new knowledge to the company across our global presence through training, paired working, and creation of documentation.

WMG will provide specialised technical support and supervision to the Associate to ensure Baker Hughes is an industry leader driven by world class research.

JOB PURPOSE
To bring cutting-edge physical and digital technologies together to create oilfield equipment that is world leading.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your key responsibilities are to:

  • 1. Receive coaching and mentoring to enable you to complete assignments and projects to develop your learning and skillset.
  • Build your network with internal stakeholders, team members, and other global leaders across Baker Hughes and WMG.
  • Deliver customer outcomes and implement business improvements.
  • Development of a multiphysics simulation-assisted pipe design tool.
  • Develop modelling and simulation capability including mechanical deformation (stress-strain), gas permeability and chemical reaction mechanics.
  • Test and validation of the flexible pipe design tool in a variety of scenarios
  • Quantification of uncertainty and error in the model.
  • Plan, execute, and manage the KTP project working closely with Baker Hughes and WMG staff.
  • Transfer knowledge and train the global engineering team to properly utilise the multiphysics design tools created during the project.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reporting material for the project Steering Committee and support day to day project management tasks.
  • Define a personal development plan with the help of Baker Hughes and WMG University staff, and attend all necessary KTP related courses, events, management, and reporting meetings as and when necessary.
