We are seeking an outstanding individual for this senior role within the Research Funding and Contracts team. As an Assistant Director, you will shape and lead a team (c. 30fte) within Research Services which supports key areas of research funding and deliver an outstanding service in a dynamic and emerging climate.


About the role


You will provide strategic and operational leadership and direction to the research funding function, promoting growth of our research income and building productive engagement with significant funders on a national and international level.


A significant element of the role will be developing our support for the University's compliance with external regulatory regulations relevant to your remit, working with colleagues.


You will provide professional, and pragmatic, expertise, strategic guidance and advice on a wider range of complex matters, working with colleagues at all levels across the University.


About You


You will have substantial experience and expertise at a senior level in research support, whether that it is a university, research funding body or similar organisation, with evidence of leadership and management qualities.


To be successful in the role you will have the authority and credibility to gain stakeholder's confidence and represent the University at a senior level.

These qualities will be coupled with a strong service ethos and the ability to inspire and motivate your team.
