Claire's have an opening for a 'Head of Allocations' to own the inventory for our store channel in Europe. The primary function of the Department is to trade the Company through effective management and planning of stocks across Claire's. This will include managing intake, allocations to stores, sales, markdowns and promotional activity


As the Head of Allocations for Europe, you will be responsible for overseeing the allocation and distribution of merchandise to our retail locations across the region.

You will develop and implement allocation strategies to optimise inventory levels, maximize sales potential, and minimize stockouts.


This role requires a strategic mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with Buying, Planning and other cross-functional teams.


This role can offered on a hybrid basis working 2 days a week from our European HQ in Erdington, Birmingham.


Main Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement merchandise allocation strategies for European markets, considering factors such as seasonality, regional and country preferences, and sales trends.
  • Collaborate with the merchandising, planning, and inventory management teams to ensure alignment of allocation plans with overall business objectives.
  • Partner with Global & European stakeholders to define correct levels of investment with our Fashion SKUs to maximise sales and margin whilst minimising terminal inventory risk.
  • Utilise data analytics and forecasting tools to monitor and analyse sales performance, inventory levels, and market trends, adjusting allocation plans as needed.
  • Establish exceptionbased allocation need for each retail location based on sales forecasts, store characteristics, and historical data.
  • Monitor and adjust inventory levels to align with changing market conditions, product promotions, and seasonal demand fluctuations.
  • Identify and implement inventory control measures, such as reorder points, safety stock levels, and economic order quantities for fashion SKUs.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to merchandise allocations, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work collaboratively with Supply Chain stakeholders to ensure optimal inbound / outbound flow of goods in S&OP
  • Lead a team of allocation analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to drive results.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting continuous learning and development opportunities for the team.
  • Partner with crossfunctional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the allocation process.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, competitor strategies, and market dynamics to inform allocation decisions and drive competitive advantage.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members and other departments, such as Global & European Buying, Merchandise Planning, Sales, and Logistics, to land gotomarket strategies.

What are we looking for?

To be considered for this role we are keen to speak to people with the following skills and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Merchandising, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in merchandise planning, allocation, or inventory management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of allocation, replenishment, and demand forecasting techniques using Blue Yonder or similar demandbased tools
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute allocation strategies that drive sales growth and optimize inventory efficiency in consumerled, multichannel organisations
  • Strong European acumen across multiple geographies and markets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
  • Proven leadership abilities, including experience managing and developing a team of analysts.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to changing business needs.
  • Knowledge of retail industry trends, competitive landscape, and best practices in merchandise allocation.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
