In all cases, the analysis delivered should culminate in key learnings, and where appropriate strategic recommendations, always with the intention of adding value to the business.


This role also requires team and peer leadership by supporting workflow management and requests and communication from senior leadership and label teams.

It also supports the Director of Commercial Intelligence in broader conversations on priority analysis, data development and department comms/ positioning.


To that end, the role requires a keen commercial acumen, alongside strong analytical and inter-personal skills, project management, critical thinking and a proactive approach to problem solving.


The B Side:
Skills and Experience

Be analytical

  • Query data in Big Query using SQL, taking a creative and proactive approach to solving analytical problems.
  • Deliver established market, channel and partner analysis. This can cover all aspects of the business from demographic trends to revenue tracking.
  • Deliver ad hoc project work on the market, partners, or broader strategic questions.
  • Support the UK labels with any analysis requirements.
  • Keep abreast of new technological, Business Partner and industry developments with a view to how they impact the analysis undertaken by then team.
Be a team player

  • Lead through example by setting a high standard in the key areas of importance for the department; knowledge, approachability, collaboration, value addition.
  • Support management of team workflow and provide a sounding board for other team members.
  • Work with the other members of the team, or other departments in the Commercial Division, to support the analytical needs of the business.
Be personable

  • Maintain and build relationships with other analysts in the business, to maximise shared learning, both in the UK and globally.
  • Prepare and give internal presentations which clearly articulate the overall narrative of the work and maintain engagement.
Person specification


Necessary:

  • A proven track record in music (or associated) industry experience in an analytical role.
  • Strong SQL abilities including querying of large data sets.
  • Experience with Google Big Query desirable.
  • Python and other languages/ modelling advantageous.
  • Experience with BI tools.
  • Data Studio/ Looker and MicroStrategy desirable.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including Macro creation)
  • Excellent communication skills in a variety of environments with differing stakeholders including highlevel management.
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships across multiple teams and areas.
  • Ability to bring data to life in a compelling and expert way via storytelling
  • Experience leading teams and peers, as well as working collaboratively as part of a group.
  • Proven ability to make rational judgements and strategic recommendations from the available information.
  • Creative and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Diligent and reliable, capable of managing and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously and to a high standard, both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Technically confident; ideally with a personal interest in new media, digital and all technology; understands key terminology and communicates effectively with experts and novices alike.
