Description

A leading, innovative, producer of high-quality crops in the South East of England, we currently employ 60 full time and up to 80 seasonal staff during peak season, based at our headquarters near Deal in Kent.

We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic individual to the position of:


Plant Carter
A role based in our poly tunnels and the field, reporting into the Planting Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not restricted to:

  • Watering our plants from seed to small plants in our polytunnels.
  • Loading up plants using a forklift truck onto trailers and driving them on public roads to the field using a tractor.
  • Safe operation and routine maintenance of agricultural machinery; including performing and recording daily vehicle checks.
  • Working in teams and lone working in the field and polytunnels.
  • Adhering to all food safety and health and safety standards.
  • Accurately following instructions and completing related records.

Rate of pay:
£ £12.03 per hour basic rate, overtime rate is £ £15.04 per hour dependant on experience.


Person Specification
Essential Skills

  • Clean driving licence.
  • The ability to work with a diverse team.
  • The ability to work under your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • A strong work ethic and a cando attitude.
  • Physical fitness, this role involves manual labour and some heavy lifting.
  • Honesty and integrity.
Desirable

  • Experience of driving large agricultural machinery.
  • Forklift Truck experience/licence.
  • Mechanical knowledge and maintenance experience.
  • Experience of working with planted crops.

Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary contract

Contract length: 6 months


Pay:
£11.72-£12.03 per hour
