'Forest School Assistant' within our groups for children who are home educated (4-14 year olds)

We are very excited to announce a position has become available within our groups for Home Educated children on a Monday, Tuesday and Friday (term time only).

The start date will be week beginning 4th September 2023. There may be opportunities to work within our Holiday Club for the right person.


The role in brief would include:
*Supporting children with their play and not being afraid to join in
*Showing a genuine interest in the children and listening to their ideas and opinions.
*Supporting children when creating, building and making the structures and props that will be used in their play.
*To work well as part of a team and share the load.
*To support a genuine enthusiasm for the outdoors and respect for nature
*Support children in developing their social skills and relationships with their peers.
*Taking part in the general routines of the day, which could include supporting children with toileting, handwashing and camp cleaning routines.
*Good initiative and ability to think on your feet.
*Be comfortable to work outside and embrace all weathers

*Follow the Forest School Ethos and 'learner led' play.

*Use and teach Forest School skills to enhance learning.


Essential Skills and qualifications
*Forest School Level 3 or similar eg Level 3 bushcraft

*Actively practicing these outdoor practical skills within your current job or day to day life.

• Secure in your knowledge of safeguarding children

*Previous work with children.

*Able to work as part of a team and take direction.


Desirable skills and experience would be:
*Childcare/playwork qualification are desirable but not essential.
*First Aid qualification

More important than a qualification is your enthusiasm and passion for the role and your willingness to learn in a setting where every day is different and every day an adventure

Pay will range from minimum wage up to £12 per hour depending on age, qualifications and experience. 19.5hours per week plus holiday pay.
