About the role
The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction projects at the Sellafield Site, the plant will play a vital role in Sellafield's 100-year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the sites
original wasteplants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern building. The plant is primarily designed to deal with waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, one of four legacy waste plants prioritised for clean-up by
Sellafield Ltd.'s owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Alongside that work, the plant will also receive certain wastes from the other three legacy waste stores, the First-Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage
Pond, and Pile Fuel Cladding Silo


The BEP Joint Venture project will safely design and deliver a Plant and the works in accordance with the requirements of the contract to enable conditioning of wastes from the various donor plants, carried out in line with the Employer's needs and to the satisfaction of stakeholders in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).


Balfour Beatty Major Projects team have a fantastic opportunity for a
Temporary Works Coordinator to work at the Box Encapsulation Plant (BEP), Sellafield, Seascale.


What you'll be doing
As a
Temporary Works Coordinator, you will responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate all scaffold to be erected on time and on budget as per agreement with the subcontractor and the JV
  • Liaise with the Scaffold subcontractors to ensure cost efficiency and safe practice.
  • Coordination between trades on site, i.e. finding out what scaffold is needed to be organised.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors' designers to identify what design may be required.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors' supervisor to ensure all requests are completed.
  • Instruct JV requirements to the subcontractor.
  • Log all requests and handovers of training packs to the BEP JV Training Coordinator to ensure competency from all staff is met.
  • Attend meetings to report back to the JV on any progress made from the Scaffold subcontractor.
  • Review, comment and sign all Risk Assessments and Method Statements submitted to the JV referencing scaffold coordination.

Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Understanding of legislation surrounding their role as well as all relevant health and safety issues. CISRS Scaffolding Supervisor Card ideal.
  • Previous Scaffold Erection or Inspection and Coordination experience required. CISRS Advanced Scaffolding Inspection Training Scheme certificate preferred.
  • TG20 Operative Awareness course
  • IOSH Managing Safely
