Description

Working as part of one of the foremost cancer centres in the country, the post-holder will work with senior consultant colleagues to deliver excellent care for our patients.


Applicants must be eligible for registration or hold full registration with the GMC and will be expected to participate in a 1:8 on-call rota.

They must have the ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists, operating lists and rotas as well as demonstrate strong communication and team working skills.

The department has a growing quality improvement, research and audit unit and involvement in research is also actively encouraged

JOB PURPOSE


The post holder is intended to work at Registrar level, supporting and aiding the clinical ward work, the Outpatient workload and Elective and Emergency operating of the Department.

A pay banding supplement is payable for participation in the on-call rota at middle grade level.


KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:


The post holder will be required to develop key working relationships with the following roles within the service and the wider Trust.

Consultants

Doctors in Training

Trust Doctors

Nursing Staff

Allied Health Professionals

Managerial Staff


MAIN DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS AREAS:

Post-holders will be working at the middle grade level as a Trust Grade Registrar and be part of a team of 8 at the middle grade level within the General Surgery department.


Although this post is not a recognised training post, you will have a wide opportunity to develop your surgical skills and you will be expected to have a strong academic commitment and to be part of the ongoing academic and audit activities of the department.
