Description

The Post holder will be responsible for the provision of effective rota co-ordination for the operational group to which they are aligned which will include a number of Specialties, at Scunthorpe General Hospital, Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital or Goole and District Hospital.

The role will also include the communication of those rotas to all parts of the Trust that require this information for either communication purposes (e.g. Switchboard) or to be able to plan clinical activity at levels that reflect the quantity of medical time available to deliver the service. There will be a requirement to work flexibly over seven days.

  • To produce, manage, update on a daily basis and distribute oncall/activity rotas for all grades of medical staff within the various Groups to comply with agreed rota patterns and set protocols.
  • To work with the Operational Group Management Team and Medical Staffing offering support when required.
  • To support the implementation of E-Rostering and work with the Medical Staffing/Erostering Teams in developing the new roles that will evolve from this projectTo authorise, monitor and maintain annual leave, study leave sick leave etc records for Consultants, Non-Consultant Career grades and trainee doctors, arranging cover whenever necessary to enable activity targets and ensuring that regulatory and contractual obligations are met (e.g. EWTD) and that sufficient medical staff are available to deliver the service.
  • To liaise with the Medical Staffing Department and ensure that any requests for study leave that will result in either an amount of time that is above the entitlement available is drawn to the attention of the Clinical Directors and Group Management Team before absence is authorised.
  • To develop a sound understanding of the European Working Time Directive, The New Deal, and 2016 contract for Junior Medical Staff, and to ensure that the way in which rotas are managed (particularly in terms of the use of prospective cover and any additional hours worked) and with guidance from Medical Staffing enables compliance with the Working Time Directive, new Deal and 2016 contract for Junior Medical Staff whilst minimising dependence on locum medical staff.
