Description
We are now looking for an outstanding Performing Arts tutor to join our team based in Walthamstow, East London.


You will need to have demonstrable experience of creating and delivering successful performing arts curriculum with 16-19 year old learners, strong knowledge of the performing arts industry, the latest trends and working methods of the industry and a strong interest in promoting performance work that relates to the lives and culture of the local multi-cultural London community.

You are likely to have experience of working with young people on performance projects and are able to use leadership methods and style that stimulates and engages the attention and enthusiasm of young people in the local community.


Key tasks

  • The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of young people
  • Outstanding approach to curriculum delivery using project based methods of learning
  • Plan and deliver exciting performing arts lessons that support learner retention, achievement and progression
  • Plan and deliver an individualised learning plan so that all learners, including high needs and ALS learners have equal access to training
  • Model and encourage the highest standards from team and learners
  • Ensure a high standard industry experience for learners with guest speakers and visits
  • Select text resources and stimulus that speak to the lives and experiences of the performing arts learners in the local community, promotes enquiry and awareness and encourages positive attitudes to life and work.
  • Track progress of learners and initiate support plans
  • Complete learner one to one tutorials and individual learning plans
  • Attend weekly team meetings with colleagues using KPI data to track learner progress
  • Work with parents and carers to support students and attend interview and parent's evenings
  • Promote your course and BCT at open evenings and events
  • Ensure feedback and marking is timely and supports learner progression
  • Experience of internal verification of both assignments and assessment decisions

Desired qualities

  • Outstanding teaching and communication skills and experience of good / outstanding Ofsted
  • Experience of leading groups of learners through their course experience as a course tutor
  • Assertive and selfconfident in management of the learning environment
  • Positive, solution focused and proactive when managing and responding to data
  • Experience of working in the creative industries using an entrepreneurial approach
  • Experience of working professionally in performing arts
  • Extremely organised and able to manage own work load effectively and flexibly
  • Highly motivated and driven to succeed in a competitive and rewarding environment

Salary and days of work

  • 13 hours per week + Planning and Marking time. This will equate to a
    21 hours per week contract.
  • Qualified Teacher full time equivalent £33,000 (PGCE level or equivalent)
  • Unqualified Teacher full time equivalent £27,810
  • Salary will be prorata £
    19,800 (Qualified Teacher) and £
    16,686 (Unqualified Teacher)
  • We offer 32 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays (40 in total) pro rata for part time positions
  • Start date of
    14th August 2023
