Description

Pharmacy Technician Purpose:
Works under licensed pharmacist to prepare and dispense medications to patients and medical providers. Ensures that prescriptions are filled properly and quickly. Delivers medications to patients and processes pharmacy purchases. Deals directly with patients in obtaining medical information and dispensing prescriptions. Documents and stocks medications that arrive at the pharmacy. Keeps stock of medications on hand and lets pharmacist know when orders are needed.


Pharmacy Technician duties:

  • Dispenses prescription drugs and other healthcare items to patients as directed by licensed pharmacist
  • Handles clerical duties, such as answering phones, placing orders, and operating the cash register
  • Responds to patients' questions about medications by arranging for them to speak with the pharmacist
  • Counts, pours, mixes, packages, labels, and prices prescription medications
  • Collects, sorts, and evaluates patient medical information
  • Communicates with prescribers about patients and medications
  • Submits billing paperwork appropriately
  • Maintains electronic database of customer and prescription information
  • Complies with pharmacy procedures and all regulations
  • Offers educational materials to patients about their conditions and medications
  • Orders medications as directed by the pharmacist
  • Handles checkout duties, including ringing in patients' medications and purchases, collecting payment, and issuing receipt
  • Takes inventory of prescription and overthecounter medications and other pharmaceutical products and records results

£14,614.00-£21,825.00 per year
