The role


As Head of Data Science within the Data and Analytics Team, you will be part of a collaborative, ambitious and determined data team that values innovation and impact.

The Data and Analytics Team sit within the Product Development organisation and plays a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions.


At Rightmove, we are dedicated to leveraging data science to drive business growth, enhance consumer and estate agent experience and shape the future of our industry.

We are at the early stages of building a leading data science team that will deliver transformational projects through using cutting-edge technology and data-driven solutions.


A typical week as a Head of Data Science might involve

  • Team management, including recruitment, onboarding, and developing top talent, ensuring that the team has the skills, resources and support needed to excel in their roles
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline and optimise data science processes and workflows, and implement best practices to ensure efficiency, repeatability, and scalability
  • Overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of data science projects to solve complex business problems, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Leading the endtoend process of model development, including data collection preprocessing, feature engineering, model selection, training, evaluation, and validation
  • Ensuring that all data science deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, accuracy, reliability and implement rigorous testing and validation processes to validate model performance and mitigate risks
  • Lead agile planning sessions to ensure efficient project execution and alignment with business priorities
  • Strategic planning and goal setting, and identifying key priorities and initiatives to focus on
  • Working with Product Teams to prioritise feature requests and enhancements based on business impact and feasibility
  • Fostering a culture of continuous learning, collaboration, and innovation with the data science team and across Rightmove

We're looking for someone who

  • Has developed and executed comprehensive data science strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Can lead, mentor, and inspire a cross functional team consisting of Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Software Developers, Machine Learning Ops Engineers, and a Product Owner
  • Will collaborate with teams across the business to identify opportunities for leveraging data science to drive business growth and innovation
  • Has the ability to drive the development and implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning, LLM's and GenAI to solve complex business problems and optimise key business processes
  • Is resultsorientated and able to drive measurable business impact through advanced analytics, machine learning and LLM's
  • Is proficient in programming languages such as Python and has experience with data manipulation and analysis libraries / frameworks (e.g. Pandas, NumPy, Tensorflow, PyTorch)
  • Will work closely with senior leadership to communicate the value and impact of data science initiatives, and advocate for the integration of datadriven decision making into all aspects of the business
  • Can partner with internal stakeholders to identify and prioritise strategic initiatives that can be enhanced or enabled through data science
  • Will ensure compliance with relevant data privacy and security regulations and best practices
  • Thrives in a fastpaced, dynamic environment and is comfortable navigating ambiguity and uncertainty

We would love someone to have any of the following

  • Have a Batchelors degree, MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computational Statistics, Machine Learning, or related STEM field
  • Proven track record of successfully building, testing, and deploying machine learning models in production environments with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Expertise in a wide range of machine learning algorithms and techniques with handson experience in selecting and implementing the most suitable approaches for solving specific business problems
  • Experience with model deployment and serving frameworks, such a TensorFlow Serving, Flask, Docker, and experience of cloudbased deployment platforms.
  • Knowledge of best practices for model monitoring performance tracking and version control and ability to implement robust monitoring and governance process for deployed models
  • Excellent communication skills and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams and communicate complex technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders
  • A proactive and entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and a willingness to explore new technologies, techniques, and approaches to solving business problems with data sc
