CHERRY TREES EARLY YEARS PRACTITIONER

REPORTING AND RESPONSIBLE TO:
Head of Early Years


PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children.


To work as part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all individual children can play, develop independence and learn.

To actively promote the Montessori Philosophy of learning for young children.

To build and maintain strong partnership working with parents to enable children's needs to be met.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist in the planning and preparation of work appropriate to the needs of the children. Meet all agreed deadlines.
  • Teach pupils using methods appropriate to need.
  • Ensure progression and achievement within the philosophy of Montessori.
  • Undertake Baseline and termly summaries of attainment.
  • Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the effort, progress and work standards of the children.
  • Keep up to date assessment records and take relevant action to improve children's outcomes.
  • Report on the progress of individuals to parents, colleagues and the child as necessary.
  • Organise and maintain a stimulating and attractive school environment, updating resources as required
  • Maintain good order and promote selfdiscipline among pupils, with a view to their wellbeing and safety.
  • Attend all staff meetings, parents' evenings and other school functions as required.
  • Deal appropriately with sickness and injury.
  • Carry out supervisory duties as required.
  • Audit resources as required.
  • Obtain authorisation for expenditure from the Nursery Manager.
  • Maintain good communication with colleagues, parents and children.
  • Foster and maintain good working relationships, acting as a courteous, friendly and businesslike member of the school team.
  • Work in a cooperative, diplomatic and flexible manner.
  • Take part in Paediatric firstaid training as required by the setting.
  • Review your own performance and identify selfdevelopment needs in discussion with line manager and colleagues as appropriate.
  • Attend inservice training courses as appropriate.
  • Adhere to all agreed EYFS procedures and ensure that guidelines and policies are followed at all times.
  • Consistently follow agreed risk assessments and produce or update as each activity requires.
  • Undertake such additional duties as might be reasonably requested by the Head of School or other authorised person.
Safeguarding


To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom he/she is responsible, or with whom he/she comes into contact with.

To adhere to and ensure compliance with the School's Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy at all times.

If in the course of carrying out the duties of the role, the Job holder becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the school he/she must report any concerns to the School's Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Health & Safety

  • To comply with safety instructions and regulations.
  • To work in a manner which is safe and healthy for both yourself and others with whom you come into contact.
  • To promptly report all safety hazards to The Operations Team as well as any unsafe working practices.
  • To undertake such additional duties as might be reasonably requested by the Head of School or other authorised person.

Hours of work:
40 hours per week, 52 weeks a year. Exact hours to be discussed at interview.

Salary commensurate with age and experience.

Salary negotiable depending on experience.

Recruitment is dependent upon clear DBS Check and Suitable Referencing


Salary:
£11.00-£12.50 per hour

Education:


  • GCSE or equivalent (required)
