Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove (AUKWSBH), is an independent local charity working in the community to help older people, their families and carers.

We provide an array of services and activities that meet the needs and interests of the communities we support, providing opportunities for people to get out, have fun, socialise and build friendships.

Our vision is to inspire and enable people in West Sussex, Brighton & Hove to Love Later Life.

It really is a great place to work if you want to make a genuine, positive difference in people's lives.

The Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced person to become our Head of Finance.

The role represents a chance to work with an ambitious charity, which even in the current financial climate is looking to grow.

Our funding comes from a range of sources including income from contracts, grants, donations and trusts, alongside income from paid for services.

We have headquarters and several other premises across West Sussex, Brighton and Hove.

The role will involve continuing our journey of modernisation, managing a small excellent team, covering Finance and IT Support.

The remit of the role covers financial strategy, delivery of the year end accounts and audit in-line with the charity SORP.

You will need to deliver reports to the Senior Leadership Team, Trustees, donors and funders and will manage budgeting & forecasting, as well as overseeing payroll, financial controls and taxation and business partnering to the rest of the organisation, whilst supporting the charity to make excellent decisions.

Outside of finance the role covers some governance, compliance, and managing the small inhouse IT team. The role will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

This is an exciting and varied role which would best suit a fully-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA accountant with prior experience in a similarly broad and senior role in the charity sector.

There is flexibility to undertake this role on a full or part-time basis (minimum 22.5 hours a week working across 3 days).

We offer hybrid working with the expectation to spend at least 1 day per week in the office. This can be from a choice of one of our premises including, Brighton, Horsham, Burgess Hill, Bognor Regis or Haywards Heath) and the remaining time can be worked from home.

If you believe you have the skills, experience and passion to become our new Head of Finance then we look forward to you joining us.
