Description
Are you motivated by engaging Older Adults in recreational, meaningful activities and seeing the direct benefit of this on their health and wellbeing? Are you creative, enabling you to facilitate innovative and appealing activities for patients? Are you driven and able to work autonomously to develop this new strand of activity provision and improve our offer for patients at Woodlands Inpatient Unit?

If the answer is yes, we are looking for a Band 3 Activity Worker, to work in collaboration with our existing activity worker on Maple Ward.

You would be working with an enthusiastic, hardworking ward team, who value the benefits of recreational activity for patients on the ward.

The ward provides specialist mental health assessment, diagnosis, and individual person centred care and treatment. All care and treatment delivered will be based on the principals of recovery that promote dignity, independence and choice.

Maple Ward provides assessment and treatment for Older Adult patients, who have functional and organic mental health conditions, and associated complex and challenging needs.

You would be expected to support, and at times cover for, your colleagues on the ward.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 6,400 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 160 locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.

Greater Manchester is one of the world's most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work.

From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.

Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity.

Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.

  • To lead on delivering a high quality activity provision for the patients of Maple Ward, including evenings hours and at weekends, using a variety of meaningful activities both in groups and with individual patients.
  • To work directly with patients with complex needs, providing engagement opportunities to maximise wellbeing and support recovery.
  • To engage patients within an older adult inpatient mental health setting, providing an activity programme, which is appropriate to the needs of patients who have complex and challenging needs (both physical and mental health).
  • To provide direct support to Allied Health Practitioners, nursing staff and the multidisciplinary team, in the context of meaningful activity work on the ward.
  • To work as part of a team, focusing on the direct needs of patients, working across boundaries of care and organisations to promote social inclusion and promote active participation in an individualised recovery plan, using the agreed set of values and skills to underpin their daytoday work.
