The Daylight Department


The Daylight Department is an international team of dynamic and enthusiastic people with diverse backgrounds, including: surveying, legal, building engineering, architecture, physics and environmental science.

We help deliver the required densification of London by optimising the development potential and the daylight and sunlight performance of a site.

Through a combination of technical input and client-facing work, we assist developers and architects from the early stages of design all the way to planning determination and beyond.

As the most experienced and innovative Daylight, Sunlight and Rights of Light team in the UK and Ireland, we have developed services which have become the industry standard.

We conduct internal research projects to push the boundaries of our disciplines and have an in-house R&D team developing software for us.


The role:

We are looking for a bright and enthusiastic person to help and support the team with day to day work, consisting of:

  • Undertaking the necessary due diligence;
  • Assisting more senior team members in the delivery of the project;
  • Preparing reports.


You will work alongside each member of the team, at all levels, right through to Partner, in advising our clients regarding their proposed developments and take part in weekly meetings.

You will also be offered technical and theoretical training in Rights of Light, Daylight and Sunlight matters.

Required attributes:


  • Knowledge and understanding of architectural drawings and the built environment;
  • Strong numerical skills;
  • Excellent written skills for future complex report writing;
  • Good problem solving and analytical mind to analyse schemes, their repercussions and solutions;
  • Independent learning;
  • Interest in environmental design, specifically for daylight and sunlight;
  • Hardworking and proactive attitude, with a strong attention to detail;
  • Thriving on collaboration and teamwork;
  • Interest in consulting, with client facing, professional outlook;
  • Ability to identify and manage risk in changing and challenging circumstances;
  • Ability to adequately communicate in English (at least to B1 CFER level);
  • Excellent communication skills to discuss projects with clients and colleagues;
  • Desire to provide the best possible care to clients and colleagues;
  • Based in the UK with easy access to the London office, or willing to relocate for easy access to the office.

Desired skills:


  • Knowledge of Excel, Photoshop, InDesign;
