ESNEFT Library services are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Patient Information Officer to join our small friendly team


You will ensure ESNEFT has a robust and trustworthy system for the creation and review of patient information leaflets, and that patients and carers are directed to the most current and trusted information to support their ongoing care and wellbeing.


The Trust can be held responsible if incorrect or outdated information is provided on Trust leaflets which can lead to damage to its reputation, financial loss as well as negatively impacting on lives.

Lead on the automation of the patient leaflet process.

Offer a consistent and high level of administrative support to functions within the Library and Digital Learning Services Team.

You will be based at either Ipswich or Colchester Hospital (with some remote working) there will be a requirement to work across sites as required

  • To develop and maintain effective working relationships with the library and Digital Learning Services team, design services, digital team, patient experience, reader's panel and library visitors, utilising oral and written methods of communication as appropriate.
  • To liaise with the design services and digital services teams to ensure new and reviewed leaflets are with the correct team.
  • To communicate with leaflet authors, offering advice and guidance on content and review process. This may need skills in negotiation, diplomacy and tact.
  • To work with information governance leads and heads of departments to ensure leaflets are reviewed in a timely manner and assigned to the correct departments and authors.
  • To liaise and network with patient information officers in other NHS organisations, and actively participate appropriate Communities of Practice, in order to share and develop best practice.
  • To develop and manage a network of patient leaflet champions based in wards and departments.
