Lab Technician/Phlebotomist. Location - Central London. Salary - £16-£18ph
We are working with a world class Research University based in London who are looking to recruit an experienced Lab Technician/Phlebotomist to work within their Epidemiology department to help assist and support the Senior Laboratory Technician and Biomarkerwithin the research unit.
Job Duties:
- Collection of venous blood samples, swabs, body fluids and tissue
- Provide uptodate technical support to a very high standard in sampling, processing and storage of biomaterial
- Liaise with other staff on the clinical team regarding sample collection and processing
- Assist with clinical procedures carried out by the healthcare team as part of a research study, as appropriate. This includes, but not limited to measuring and recording accurately volunteers' physiological measurements and safety information, and to reportany abnormalities to study clinicians
- Develop a full knowledge and input into improvements in the relevant research procedures, recordkeeping and health and safety regulations.
- Maintain specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures, SOP(s) and protocols.
- Advise and support students and researchers working in the laboratory to acquire information, reports, or access to samples
- Ensure that all work done in the laboratory complies with the applicable regulations concerning biohazards and human tissue use, and remain familiarised with all documentation, relevant regulations and other requirements, escalating internally any concernsor updates needed
- Maintain agreed stock levels of consumables by monitoring and ordering/requesting items
- Record and maintain data and information, as relevant and appropriate and in line with college procedures
- Phlebotomy experience
- Bachelor degree in Science or equivalent experience of working within a scientific laboratory
- Experience of processing samples
- Experience in handling Biomaterial
- Experience of working in a clinical research environment
- Familiarisation of the Human Tissue Act
