LSAB & LSCB Administrative Officer


Connect2Luton are excited to recruit a LSAB & LSCB Administrative Officer on behalf of Luton Borough Council within their Children Services department.


Main purpose of position:

To provide efficient and confidential secretarial and administrative support to the Strategic Safeguarding Manager, the Independent Chair of the Luton Safeguarding Adult Board (LSAB);

To support the work of the LSAB, providing a professional response to multi-agency partners in co-ordinating the work of the Board.


As aLSAB & LSCB Administrative Officer, youwill be responsible to:

  • Provide a comprehensive and confidential secretarial and administrative support service to the Strategic Business Manager, the two local Safeguarding Boards and the Independent Chair of the Board in all matters relating to the efficient working of theboards and its members including case reviews and audit activity. To maintain all records pertaining to the work of the Board
  • Organise meetings: preparing reports, agendas, papers and taking the minutes and ensuring that all communication is sympathetic to the highly sensitive confidential and complex nature of the work of the respective Boards
  • Be involved in the development of Business Administration apprentices by providing them with support and mentoring, enabling them to complete all aspects of the apprenticeship, To provide administrative support to other staff in the unit
  • Monitor the implementation of projects or actions and progress/chase as required; Monitor and review all administrative procedures, including information systems ensuring efficiency in practice to enable ongoing evaluation and the maintenance of high standards
  • Originate and draft correspondence including letters, reports, policy documents, promotional materials such as leaflets etc, as required and maintain the Board websites

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative/coordinating role and servicing large and diverse meetings
  • Experience of working with highly confidential, sensitive and sometimes disturbing informat
  • Able to communicate clearly, accurately and sensitively with a wide range of people at all levels
  • Able to plan, organise and prioritise own workload within changing timescale and parameters to meet organisational priorities and deadlines
  • Able to interpret and analyse data in order to produce wellwritten reports, documents and minutes
  • Able to use own initiative to make informed judgements with limited supervision and guidance, prioritising own workload
  • Able to contribute constructively to, and work effectively, as a member of a team
  • Able to manage, direct, motivate and support the development of apprentice administrators
  • Recognised administration qualification to Level 2/3 OR equivalent qualification OR equivalent experience
  • RSA Stage 2 typing/word processing or equivalent qualification or experience
  • Some knowledge of the statutory functions of either Luton Safeguarding Adult Board or Luton Safeguarding Childre Board
  • Willing to be flexible to adjust working arrangements with notice to meet changing demands and priorities during work periods
