An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint two new senior clinical fellows to join our renal department starting in Jan/Feb 2024 for 12 months.

You will be part of a team providing both inpatient and outpatient care to patients with the full spectrum of kidney diseases and be able to participate in a full range of educational opportunities present within the department.


The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest in London with a well-established national and international reputation for clinical excellence and world-class care.


  • Have completed internal medicine training
  • Are making the transition from core to specialist training and seeking to consolidate knowledge and experience
  • Have not previously worked in the NHS and seek an introduction to renal medicine at a higher specialty trainee level
  • Completed specialist training and keen to gain additional experience in subspecialties in a worldrenowned institution

The successful applicants will rotate through:

  • Acute Kidney Unit
  • Acute transplant recipients,
  • ITU step downs
  • AKI transferred from other trusts in North Central London as part of the AKI Network.
They will also attend a variety of clinics including

  • Dialysis (Haemodialysis and PD (Peritoneal Dialysis))
  • Transplantation: acute and chronic clinics, transplant assessment clinic
  • Low clearance
- general and sub-speciality nephrology e.g., vasculitis, lupus, nephrotic syndrome

Opportunities will also be available to attend other clinics

  • Tubular
  • Stone disease
  • Maternal nephrology
  • Amyloid (National Amyloidosis Centre)
  • Difficult hypertension
  • HIV nephrology
  • Uronephrology


Theywill have the opportunity to perform native and transplant renal biopsies underconsultant supervision and will be expected toparticipatein the registrar on-call and night shift rota, for which they will be paid a supplement accordingly.
