Jones Whyte are currently recruiting for a Legal Secretary to join our busy Legal Support Team.

You will be working mostly within our Litigation team and provide some holiday/sickness cover for the Family and Dispute Resolution departments.


If you have strong secretarial skills and a passion for assisting case handlers in processing cases efficiently, then this is the role for you.


The Role


As a Legal Secretary within our Litigation department you will be providing administrative support to fee earners by way of audio typing, and drafting documentation, as well as proof reading and formatting documents.

You should have good knowledge and understanding of court procedures within the Simple Procedure Court, Summary Cause Court, Ordinary Cause Court, ASPIC and Court of Session along with the ability to deal with all court forms & documentation for the above courts.

Having a fast and accurate typing speed is essential and previous work on Bighand and Caseload would be desirable.


Other tasks included in the role - maintaining contact with clients & courts in a prompt and professional manner whilst ensuring files are maintained to a high level.

You will also be instructing service of court documents, monitoring key dates, ensuring deadlines are met and compliance procedures are up to date on all files and matters.


Key Requirements:


  • Previous secretarial/administrative experience within a legal environment
  • Previous Audio Typing experience
  • A strong understanding of Litigation documentation & processes
  • A strong work ethic and team player
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills with individuals at all levels
  • Positive outlook
It would also be beneficial if you have the following:

  • Experience working with Bighand & Caseload systems
