We're looking for a Business and Programme Support Officer to enable and support the successful delivery of the South East ADASS regional work programme


Salary:
£28,371 to £31,099 per annum

Working Pattern:
Part-time (3 days or 22.2 hours per week)

Contract Length:
Secondment for
6 months with possibility of extension

Location:
County Hall, Chichester (including travel & remote working)


As a Business and Programme Support Officer, you will:

  • Provide self-directed, proactive and confidential professional business and programme support.
  • Be responsible for planning and managing small projects.
  • Work in close partnership with the Directors of Adult Social Services regional chairs (the Directors at West Sussex County Council and Bracknell Forest Council) and the regional programme leads.
  • Build and maintain positive, strong, and effective relationships with partners and stakeholders.
  • Document the work programme for the region
  • Coordinate, plan and assist in the development and staging of a variety of events, including meetings, seminars and briefings.

Experience and Skills Key Skills**:


  • High levels of written and verbal communication skills. Highly developed communications and interpersonal skills to confidently interact with a wide range of partners and stakeholders at all levels to create and maintain effective internal and external working relationships, and an understanding of the need to share information with consent.
  • Ability to publicly represent ADASS and make positive connections and influence the relationship ADASS has with partners and stakeholders whilst building and maintaining contacts and rapport. Ability to show political awareness.
  • Strong problemsolving skills with a focus on efficiency and with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently, planning solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions. Excellent judgement in dealing with matters in a prompt and effective manner.
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently and on one's own as well as being a good team player. Able to scope out work and work across the team, managing time, planning work effectively and meeting deadlines, priorities, and targets, demonstrating emerging project management and task management skills and knowing when to escalate. Able to display resilience and enthusiastic adaptability when facing demanding workloads and conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent IT competence and an ability to use a range of software packages to produce documents, presentations, and spreadsheets.
  • Strong numeracy skills to understand and support the development of budget monitoring and financial reports.

Qualifications and/or experience:


  • Experience of working in adult social care in a Local Authority environment at a senior support level is essential, as is understanding how local government works.
  • Proven track record of providing professional business and/or project support at a senior level.
  • Experience of working independently, and comfortable with working as part of a geographically dispersed team in the South East.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced, innovative work environment whilst remaining objective, professional and calm.
  • High level IT skills with a qualification in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and adept and proactive at picking up new technology skills quickly.
  • Experience of working as a competent member of a team, ideally in a project support role or equivalent
