The specialist hepatobiliary pancreatic dietitian will establish the service to HPB patients within UHNM and be part of a new 3 team dietitians working in upper GI cancer care.


You will support ourpatient's nutritional journey pre and post surgery, You will have a caseload of benign complex pancreatic patients within the inpatient and outpatient settings, across both our sites including the cancer centre and palliative care.

You will join other wider team members in established MDT clinics and MDT meetings.


You will establish, monitor and deliver fundamental dietetic care to patients with HBP cancer, working closely with established dietetic teams in Oncology and surgery.

One of your first jobs will be to scope the clinical commitments for the service, working with or CNS and consultant teams.

You will support the team delivering dietetic care to UGI cancer patients


The post will be based at Royal Stoke University Hospital, but will also spend time each week at County Hospital supporting MDT and dietetic clinics for our patients in South Staffordshire.


The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics at UHNM has a team of over 70 dietitians and dietetic assistants working across all specialties.

We provide services within Staffordshire, Cheshire and specialist services within Shropshire and Wolverhampton. The team is supported by our secretarial team.


The North Midlands Oesophagogastric Unit (NMOGU) and the Pancreatico-Biliary unit at UHNM offer a specialist cancer service to a population of ~2m.

The eight surgeons (4 oesophagogastric & 4 pancreatico-biliary), cumulatively, perform cancer resections / year making UHNM a high volume centre in England.


Both units also offer a tertiary service (population of ~3m) supporting the peripheral hospitals with complex benign pathologies including oesophageal perforation and complicated severe pancreatitis.


Dietitians work closely with surgeons, clinical nurse specialists, physicians, other AHPs and ward catering teams to provide the highest quality patient care.

The post holder will be responsible to developing the dietetic service to HBP cancer and complex benign patients within UHNM
