Description
Senior Surveyors report to Associates and Directors. Senior Surveyors can operate independently on projects and on practice management issues with the assistance of a director.

The responsibilities of a Senior Surveyor are:

  • Carry out surveying and other tasks attributable to the practices surveying services, including the management and training of Surveyors, Trainees etc.
  • Assist in the management and delivery of all surveying services and the customer care of the practices clients, ensuring a consistently high level of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in agreeing fees and drawing up appointments in consultation with a director(s)
  • Develop client relationships and actively promote the practice.
  • Provide project Surveying Services or Employer's Agent Services or Monitoring Surveyor as follows:
  • Preparing Construction Cost estimates and cost plans, including optional appraisal
  • Preparing project cash flow forecasts
  • Carrying out Employer's Agent Services, and other services as competent to undertake such as Surveying Services/Monitoring Services/Principal Designer Services, and any other services reasonably expected of a competent Surveyor designated by a Senior QS or Director.
  • Providing services as identified in the project appointment and brief and in accordance with any frameworks applicable
  • Assisting in establishing the clients brief and requirements.
  • Performing risk assessment, value management and cost control
  • Advising on procurement strategy
  • Procuring projects via tendering and negotiation using a variety of procurement paths.
  • Analysing tenders received and reporting.
  • Advising on contract matters, with the assistance of a Senior QS or Director, such as EOT, Loss and Expense, Insolvency etc.
  • Preparing adhoc project reports.
  • Completing daily timesheets, quarterly reviews and providing information/feedback for practice KPI's and any other information required by a director.
  • Lead and/or assist on special tasks including practice initiatives or business strategies as instructed by a director.
  • Promoting the practices services and assisting the practice to achieve its Vision and Aims.
  • Undertaking Continuing Professional Development in accordance with the RICS for Chartered Members and a minimum 15 hours for none chartered members. CPD recording to follow the rules of the RICS.
